For Fall 2009, the LSS InfoLab has 50 Apple MacBooks, 4 Macbook VGA adapters, 2 still cameras, 2 audio recorders, 3 external hard drives, 3 Flip-type videocameras, and 2 Mini-DV videocameras available for checkout.
The Equipment Checkout System at http://ecs.library.wisc.edu can show you availability of equipment in any InfoLab, due dates for all equipment (when you log in with your NetID), checkout policies and an FAQ.
If you wish to have a laptop for the entire semester, DoIT has a variety of laptops available for daily, weekly, monthly and semester-long rental. Semester-long rentals cost only $150. More information can be found at http://support.doit.wisc.edu/showroom/page.php?id=3086

The external hard drives are available for four-week checkout. All other items are available for 3-day checkout, according to the following schedule:
When returning equipment, allow about 5 minutes for the lab attendant to check the equipment and check the equipment into the system. All items are due back one hour before the lab closes on the date due.
The Van Hise lab closes at 8:30 PM Monday-Thursday and at 6:00 PM on Friday. Note that the lab hours vary during breaks and finals week. Please check the InfoLab hours page for current information.

The LSS InfoLab has two Panasonic Mini-DV video cameras available for checkout. Each camera comes in a case with a 3-part AC adapter, a battery, an audio/video cable, a Firewire cable, a USB cable, a CD with manual, and a Mini-DV tape and case.
If you wish to keep the Mini-DV tape, please provide your own. Tapes cost about $5.00.
