Windows or Mac? In the AV Pool, you have a choice!

September 21, 2009 by Doug Worsham

On an AV Pool Computer, you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select you

All of the computers available for checkout in the L&S AV Pool now run both Windows XP and Mac OS X.

With these laptops, you choose the operating system you prefer right after turning on the computer. Just use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select Windows XP or Mac OSX. Then hit enter, and you're ready to go.

Using either Windows or Mac OS, you'll have access to several commonly used programs:

  • Audacity - easy to use audio recording and editing software
  • Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • the Firefox web browser
  • QuickTime media player

Even better, you're always one click away from AV Pool support using our AV Pool Help chat. Just look for the Help Chat icon on the desktop.

Tips for using AV Pool laptops

  • Hoping to project? Make sure all cables are connected and the projector power is on before choosing your operating system.
  • Looking for tips on projector troubleshooting? See our projector troubleshooting how-to guide
  • Where's the mouse button? Don't worry, even though it looks like there isn't a mouse button, it is really there. Just press down on the trackpad to click.
  • Want to right-click? To right-click, place two fingers on the trackpad while clicking with your thumb.
