Video Conferencing

LSS has two videoconference facilities. Our primary facility uses a Polycom® VSX® series videoconferencing unit, which is capable of standard definition video communication over IP with other H.323 compatible videoconferencing units throughout the campus and throughout the world. This unit is one of a growing number of similar units on campus which is available to instructional staff and faculty. Our H.323 unit is located in 294 Van Hise Hall and is ideal for groups of 6-8 people, though it can accommodate up to 24 individuals.

In addition, LSS has a software based Polycom® PVX™ videoconferencing system. This  video conferencing software application delivers audio and video via a PC and USB camera . This unit is designed for individual use, but can be adapted for groups up to three.

Prior to final scheduling, a test with the remote site will be required and the following information will need to be collected:

• IP address of the Videoconference facility
• Name, phone number, and e-mail address of the remote site technical contact person
• Date, Time, Timezone of the local and the remote site
