About

Since 1997 I've worked as an instructional technology consultant with Learning Support Services (LSS) in the College of Letters & Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I support L&S faculty and staff by:

  • answering questions about available technologies (websites, Learn@UW, My Webspace, wikis, blogs, podcasting, PowerPoint, audio, video, chat, scanning, etc.)
  • maintaining the LSS Special Projects Lab (SPL) where L&S faculty and staff can develop instructional materials with or without assistance
  • providing one-on-one instruction and troubleshooting
  • providing group workshops and after-workshop support
  • providing referrals to other LSS, L&S, and other campus support units

I've worked on the UW-Madison campus since 1984, so if I can't answer a question, there's a good chance I'll know someone who can. From 1987-1997 I worked for UW-Cooperative Extension. I graduated in 1987 with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from UW-Madison. As a student I worked for the Wisconsin Union.

I'm a member of the steering committee for Community of Educational Technology Support (ComETS) which serves to promote professional development and shared expertise among more than 200 members of the UW-Madison instructional technology support community. I recently began serving as ComETS liaison to the Instructional Technology Committee (ITC) which is the UW-Madison shared governance advisory body, composed of faculty, academic staff, and students, for information technology policy and planning throughout the University.

I also serve as Academic Staff Assembly District 460 Representative and co-chair the Academic Staff Professional Development Committee.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, listening to independent singer-songwriters, practicing mindfulness meditation, and Chi Walking. I am even learning to enjoy gardening in spite of my lifelong dislike of insects.
